Children living in poverty are among the most vulnerable and it is our responsibility to protect and develop them.
At Compassion International Lanka, we've established a clear child protection and holistic development program to help every child to become a thriving, transformed individual who will positively influence their world.
WE HELP DEVELOP CHILDREN INTO THRIVING, TRANFORMED INDIVIDUALS
Child development equips children today with skills to succeed tomorrow. Holistic child development provides opportunities that encourage the healthy development of all aspects of a child — morally, physically, socially, emotionally, and even economically — early and throughout life.
Holistic child development (HCD) means we begin assisting a child in poverty, in some cases, when the child is still in the womb, and it means we go all the way through young adulthood with the child. Holistic child development is a long-term approach which requires long-term dedication and perseverance. It changes as a child’s needs change. All our programs are tailored to a child's age, gender, health, culture and family situation.
WE DO ALL OF OUR WORK THROUGH LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CENTERS
We deliver our programs exclusively through our local partners. Each partner tailors our holistic child development model to the contextualized needs of the children in their community, to best deliver the whole-life care the children need.
However, we have also developed strategic alliances with other organizations—such as the government, other non-governmental organizations, and the private sector—to achieve our shared outcomes for the children and youth in Sri Lanka. Strategic alliances depend on various factors such as organizational outcomes, mission and values, and location, to name a few. Necessary internal due diligence is conducted before entering any strategic alliances.
